FORESTRY ENGLAND "THE FUTURE OF CANNOP PONDS"

Issued February 21 2024 this covers the broad plan that is currently being worked on in detail. It includes the decision to SAVE the ponds - the main , Lower pond will have a new spillway and minimal modifications. The smaller Upper pond will be reduced in size and remodelled to include more reeds and a new spillway.

ARUP FLOOD RISK 'MODELLING' REPORT

Issued October 2023 by Forestry England alongside it's press release admitting that the "Rewilding" plan (option 4) has now been taken off the table as it would actually increase the potential flood risk.

SAVE CANNOP PONDS TEAM replies to this report point by point, finding it contains numerous factual errors and composed of more guesswork than actual on-the-ground investigation (most of the figures used are estimates) and little or no historical records of past water levels at the ponds of Cannop Brook/River Lyd.

OFFICIAL DAM ENGINEERS REPORT - LOWER DAM

(Redacted) Issued May 2021 by the Government appointed engineer in accordance with "Section 10" of the Reservoirs Act 1975. Parts are "redacted" (censored) for claimed 'national security' reasons. However Mark Harper MP has had official sight of these in unredacted form and confirms they 'contain nothing scary'

OFFICIAL DAM ENGINEERS REPORT - UPPER DAM

(Redacted) issued December 2022, the same applies here, 'redaction' to obscure the findings under the guise of national security

CRAWFORD MUNRO Report

Issued February 2023 after a visit to the site at the request of SCPT, a report on the condition, safety and potential repair and upgrade by vastly experienced dam & reservoir engineer Crawford Munro BSc CEng CWEM FICE FCIWEM, Member of the Supervising Engineer’s Panel under the Reservoirs Act since 1985.

ARUP HERITAGE IMPACT Report

Commissioned by FORESTRY ENGLAND, issued March 2023 examining the heritage of the ponds and surrounding woodlands, includes much of interest about local mines, quarries and other industrial features. Please remember with this report that ARUP are specialists in 're-wilding' and are commissioned here to assess the issue by a body that are fully focused on 're-wilding' ... Please read and make up your own mind.

CANNOP PONDS - THE NEXT CHAPTER

FORESTRY ENGLAND'S controversial 'mission statement' for the Ponds, outlining it's reasons (many of which we dispute) and options, issued March 2023 and seen by most as a very one-sided view. Please read and make up your own mind.
